New Hampshire Finish Makes Gaughan Hungrier For Las Vegas Victory

Brendan Gaughan and his South Point Racing team hoped for more at New Hampshire International Speedway on Saturday. With two consecutive top 10s going into New Hampshire , Gaughan hoped that his Las Vegas-based team was on the way up.

But that wouldn’t be the case, as Gaughan and the South Point team came home in 25th place, two laps behind winner Ron Hornaday.

Since qualifying was washed out due to rain, Gaughan lined up 14th (owner’s points) for the start of the race. However, an ill-handling truck would cause Gaughan to fall through the field throughout the race.

"It's the worst we have been in a long time,” Gaughan said. “We just missed it today. We missed the setup, but that happens in big time auto racing. There's nobody to blame but ourselves for this one. We're going to go back to the shop and analyze, and make sure we don’t have this problem again.

“A run like this just makes us that much more mad and hungry for a great run at our home track this weekend. We can’t wait to get to Las Vegas ."
