Gaughan Confidant For Race At 'Monster Mile'

After two solid practices at Dover International Speedway on Thursday afternoon, Brendan Gaughan is cautiously optimistic about his chances this weekend in the No. 77 Georgetown University/South Point Casino Chevrolet Silverado.

"I think we have a top-five Silverado,” Gaughan said. “We have been running solid times all day, and we’ve been top-10 practice all day long in both sessions.

“I love what Bryan Berry (crew chief) and the guys have done on this Chevrolet for this race. I told them that it is a very comfortable race truck, and I’m really excited about tomorrow.”

Gaughan will qualify first tomorrow at Dover at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday. Despite having a flat tire during his mock qualifying run, Gaughan expects to have a good starting spot on the grid – and an even better finishing spot.

“If we hadn't had a left front flat on our qualifying run and got real loose in three and four, we would probably be sixth or seventh because we would have been at least a tenth faster. I think we have a top-10 qualifying truck and a top-10 race Silverado."
