Gaughan Hits Daytona For First Day Of Testing

Brendan Gaughan and the No. 77 South Point Racing team took to the Daytona International Speedway high banks for the first day of NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series testing. It was Gaughan’s first test behind the wheel of his No. 77 Chevrolet Silverado.

“We’re a work in progress right now,” Gaughan said. “The South Point team has been working really hard in the off-season to build these new Chevrolets, and now we are just trying to work our way through the differences between last year’s trucks and this year’s Chevrolets.”

Friday was the first of a three-day test at Daytona for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

“Different vehicles take different set-ups,” Gaughan said. “We are starting with a notebook from last year, and the Chevrolets are responding differently than what we had.

“It’s a learning process. We’re confident that this test is going to help us when we come back to Daytona in February.”

The No. 77 team will test again at Daytona on Saturday and Sunday.

“We have a different truck that we will be testing tomorrow, so we will see how it goes.”
